1. Nice shot here of the Han and Chewie
2. Bring down the Empire....using a crowbow and a hair dryer
3. Story Summary card...you know you have to have it.
This blog is dedicated to my rather silly collection of trading cards from movies from the 1970's and 1980's. Primarily Star Wars, Superman and Indiana Jones.

3. It's good to know that battle starship designers thought about putting a garbage compactor in.

SW01-35 Luke and Han as stormtroopers
More Movie Fact cardage here.
What's TOPPS about this card?
1. Hey, aren't they the same 2 stroomtroopers that C-3PO was trying to divert in card #35?
2. It always amazing me how the good guys always manage to knock out the bad guys and the costumes are a perfect fit.
3. Nice scene in the movie where they pretend that Chewie is a prisoner.

another Story Summary card from the first series of Star Wars cards produced by Topps in 1977.
What's TOPPS about this card?
1. You get to see more than one Stormtrooper at a time
2. These were the Imperial Stormtroopers...only the best for Lord Vadar!
3. I wouldn't put money that guy in the middle near the ramp...what's which that stance?

SW01-30 Han in the Millenium Falcon
A couple of things here....
Firstly, I'm changing the way I put the title to make it simpler for me to put the movie and card series the card is from the and it's number on the checklist. So SW01-30 means Star Wars series 1 card #30.
Secondly, I've never mentioned the condition of my cards. They are all in pretty good nick with most have excellent edges and corners, but by no means would I call them all mint or near mint. This card being an obvious example. As you can see, when they chopped all the cards up from which ever sheet this was from, this one wasn't lined up properly, as the left hand side is cut off and you can see part of the card that we adjacent to it on the sheet....but what can you do?
What's TOPPS about this card?
1. Well for this particular card it's near 2 cards in one..haha
2. We haven't seen much of Han in this card set yet...all that is about to change as he makes his appearance in the film at this point.
3. That steering column on the falcon looks terrible complicated...does it come with a manual?

Stopped by stormtroopers - Star Wars series 1 card #29
Another Movie Summary Card
What's TOPPS about this card?
1. Plenty of Stormtroopers in this one...they were supposed to be crack shots with a blaster!
2. This is that nice scene where Ben fools the Stormtroopers into letting them pass by using his Jedi skills....respect!
3. Too much shadow under that Landspeeder for mine....if you squint hard enough you can nearly see the wheels.

A nice Movie fact card again here.
What's TOPPS about this card?
1. Well, it is a movie fact card...collect them all!
2. Not sure what Lucas is talking about on the fact card..."the important thing about a movie like is that it be believable to an audience"...is an out of space adventure flick George...it ain't happening in our life-time
3. Caption competition: Ben to Luke, "nice robe Luke, but if you join the Force then one day you can have a robe like mine...and no it isn't a bath robe 3PO"

2. Caption competition #1 ...C-3PO to Luke, "Is that a screwdriver your holding or are you just happy to see me?"

A horrified Luke sees his family killed. Star Wars series 1 card #26
What's TOPPS about this card?
1. More serious acting faces for Mark Hamil
2. Must have been terrible to see their charred bodies...yuck!
3. Apparently, Owen Lars spat in the face of a Imperial Stormtrooper, which ultimately led to his and Beru's death. But you'd think that with all the armour a Stormtrooper has on, a bit of spit wouldn't do much damage.

Stormtroopers seek the droids! - Star Wars series 1 card #24
Another Movie Fact card here.
The front side portraying a nice picture of a Sandtrooper riding atop a Dewback.
What's TOPPS about this card?
1. Some interesting facts....Sandtroopers, were nearly identical to standard stormtroopers except they had additional training in specialized areas and advanced cooling systems in both their helmets and suits that offered them protection from the relentless heat.
2. Your average adult Dewback, stood at 1.3 to 2.1 meters in height and could reach lengths of 2 to 3 meters.
3. Film facts...for the original filming of Star Wars, the dewback was a mechanized lifesize puppet featuring limited articulation. On location in Tunisia, the dewback would not work properly, so it was tucked away in the background of shots rather than seen close-up.

See-Threepio is injured! - Star Wars series 1 card #23
Another Movie Facts card from the first series of Star Wars cards produced by Topps in 1977.
What's Topps about this card?
1. More interesting facts to read about on the back of the card. Of course, today we have the internet to read such trivia.
2. They really didn't make C-3PO to last did they...like, how many times in the Star Wars movies did he lose a limb or two?
3. Caption Competion: comment by Ben, "My word C-3PO they didn't half make your goldmember a decent size. You'll have to give me the name of your manufacturer".

A nice depth view here of Ben, Luke, the Landspeeder looking of R@'s shoulder.
What's Topps about this card?
1. See the world from R2's height
2. Ben must get awfully hot wearing those thick robes all about the place.

The Tusken Raiders - Star Wars series 1 card #21
A spooky Tusken Raider.
What's Topps about this card?
1. Tusken Raiders, I feel, borrow somewhat from some of the more human shaped bad guys from the Dr Who episodes also made in the 1970's.
2. The weapon he is holding in this shot is a gaderffii, or gaffi stick. More a type of club or mace than an actual firing weapon.
3. In the culture of the Tuskens, to expose any part of the flesh was forbidden and seen as a disgrace...much like some religions in our own world.

Hunted by the Sandpeople! - Star Wars series 1 card #20
that there be a Bantha..
Here we have a Tusken Raider (aka Sand person or people, take your pick), riding a Bantha.
What's Topps about this card?
1. That Bantha has to be one of the better creatures in the Star Wars universe, maybe because it has a striking resemblance to a woolly mammoth.
2. In the original version of A New Hope, the bantha was played by a trained elephant named Mardji in a fur costume. In later version the Bantha was digitised.
3. The distinctive spiral horns of the bantha grow at the rate of a knob each year...fact!

Artoo-Detoo is missing! - Star Wars series 1 card #18
Card # 18 from the first Star Wars card set produced by Topps in 1977.
...another Movie Fact card.
What's Topps about this card?
1. These Movie Fact cards were great for fans of the films as they gave you an insight into the film making process....which would have been a great help in the pre-internet days.
2. Most the Tanooine footage, like this scene, was filmed in Tunisia.
3. Caption Competition: ...the whole audience saying "he's behind you!"...in true pantomime fashion

Lord Vader threatens Princess Leia! - Star Wars series 1 card #17
Another Movie Summary card...
This time we have the 3rd card in the summary sequence, which actually fits in the well with the card sequence as this summary is all about the droids being purchased from the Jawa's and Luke finding the Leia message.
What's Topps about this card?
1. The scene is very similar to card # 10 from this set.
2. A nice father and daughter moment.
3. Caption competition time: Darth to Leia, "I'll let you go to the mall, but only if your home for dinner".

Jawaa of Tatooine - Star Wars series 1 card #16
More Jawa action!
What's Topps about this card?
1. Jawa's did not carry weapons as they are a peaceful lot...the fellow in this card is holding his ion blaster, used to restrain droids.
2. The Jawa’s unofficial motto was not to look for uses in a salvaged item, but rather to imagine someone else who might find a use for it...they'd make great environmentalists in our day and age.
3. It's a Jawa...everyone loves a Jawa...except Stormtroopers and droids.
